Founders Albert B. Blixt and Laurence N. Smith lead the NCD team of talented consultants each of whom brings a needed expertise to the institutions we serve. Albert B. BlixtFounder and Managing Partner
Al Blixt has more than 25 years’ experience designing and implementing rapid strategic change in complex organizations. Mr. Blixt is a developer of the Whole-Scale ® Change methodology. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, work process and organizational redesign, leadership coaching, team development, training and the facilitation of whole system change. He is the author of four books including being co-lead author of Leading Innovation and Change: A Guide for Chief Student Affairs Officers on Shaping the Future (NASPA 2015).
Laurence N. SmithFounder and Senior Partner
Laurence N. Smith has been a champion of innovation and change in higher education for more than 40 years as a senior university administrator and as a national leader in the field. He is emeritus Vice President for University Marketing and Student Affairs at Eastern Michigan University and holds an honorary doctorate from that institution. The author of many books, Larry has served on the national faculties of College Board, ACT and Noel/Levitz.
David LeibsohnSenior Director, Strategy & Analytics
David Leibsohn is an expert in survey research design and analysis to drive organizational change. His expertise spans multiple methodologies to make meaning from large data sets. Before joining NCD, David served on faculty in the Department of Management at California State University, Fullerton and Loyola Marymount University where he taught strategy and international business to Executives, MBAs and undergraduates.
Courtney McAnuffAssociate/Consultant
Courtney McAnuff is Vice President for Enrollment Management at Rutgers University and a special consultant to New Campus Dynamics on issues relating to enrollment management. At Rutgers, he oversees Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Aid, Academic Records, Registration, Retention Programs, and Early Awareness Outreach. V.P. McAnuff brings Rutgers outstanding leadership, innovative thinking, and new programs such as Rutgers Future Scholars. His work to ensure Rutgers is a diverse institution and leader in quality education has been widely recognized.
Mary EggersAssociate / Consultant
Mary Eggers has more than 25 years’ experience in organizational change management specializing in process redesign and culture change. She is passionate about helping leaders tap the resources in their organizations to solve the challenges they face. She practices the principle that people support what they help to create. She has been doing this work since the mid-80s and has had success nationally and internationally in higher education, healthcare, non-profits and government agencies. She is one of the developers of the Whole-Scale ® Change methodology.
Donald LoppnowAssociate / Consultant
Don Loppnow provides strategic planning, executive coaching and technical counsel to NCD clients. He served for nearly four decades various faculty and administrative leadership roles at Eastern Michigan University. Among others, Dr. Loppnow has held positions as a professor, department head, research development director, Provost and Executive Vice President, Vice President for Advancement, and Interim President of the University. He is currently a Professor Emeritus in the School of Social Work.
Beverly SeifordAssociate / Consultant
Beverly Seiford has over 30 years of professional experience in strategy development, coaching and large group interventions. She has facilitated a variety of change initiatives and conducted numerous workshops on strategic planning, process redesign, team building and conflict resolution, leadership development and alignment, coaching, and performance management. She has extensive experience facilitating groups of 6 to 600 to tap their wisdom and gain alignment on solutions to their convening issues.
Julie SmithAssociate / Consultant
Julie Smith consults on how to effectively use new media to inform and engage the campus community, parents, families, and other key stakeholders. Ms. Smith has extensive professional experience leading companies and organizations through the strategy and execution of digital media strategies including website design, use of social media and blogging to reach out to key audiences.
Michele MurrayAssociate/Consultant
Michele Murray serves as Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at the College of the Holy Cross and a special consultant to NCD. Dr. Murray provides strategic leadership for integrating students’ intellectual, spiritual, and emotional development, ensuring a vibrant campus life, and delivering excellent services and programs for all students. Murray has worked in Jesuit higher education for over 20 years, has led successful change efforts on departmental and divisional levels, and has served as a process consultant at institutions ranging in size and complexity.
Eugene ScanlanSenior Consultant
Gene Scanlan is a recognized leader in the field of fundraising. He brings over 40 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including serving over 25 years as a consultant to local, regional, national, and international organizations. His specialty areas include leadership, resource development, organizational analysis, strategic planning, Board and staff training, and marketing/fundraising. Additionally, Dr. Scanlan has held senior staff positions at colleges and universities, a large grant-making foundation, and a think tank, and has taught graduate-level University management courses on line and in person. A frequent presenter at regional and national conferences, he also is the author of two books, has contributed chapters to other books, has had his work cited in national publications, and continues to have articles and think pieces published.
