The answer is: plenty.  I ran across this video of Eric Thomas speaking to a group of students at Michigan State University about what it takes to succeed in college or in life.  Thomas is able to speak convincingly to at risk students of color who are the often the least ready to make the transition to college.  His message of perseverance rings true because he is telling his own story of how he made it from being a high School dropout in Detroit to pursuing his PhD in education administration.  But watching it, I thought “He is speaking to all of us.”  If we want to make a difference in retention and graduation rates, we have got to really want it.  Take a look and see if you are not inspired to try a little harder.
